Why Paint Correction Is The Top Detailing Service

Paint correction is essentially the all-in-one package for exterior detailing. While a thorough wash will certainly give your car a sleek look and turn heads as you drive by in your freshly cleaned vehicle, it is only the first step in our paint correction process. Now, don’t get me wrong—a wash is beneficial and essential for preserving your paint in the long run. But right after we make your car as shiny as possible, we go a step further… and then another… and actually two more after that. â€‹

After your wheels, tires, and car have been washed, we can safely begin to decontaminate your paint. Many things become embedded in your paint as you drive around, from mineral deposits from rain or nearby sprinklers to iron particles that get stuck in your paint as brake dust settles or when you pass by any of the local manufacturing plants here in Springdale. Even particles from other vehicles’ emissions can get trapped in your car's paint. So, we will spray your car's painted surfaces with our professional-grade iron decontamination chemical to break down the particles etched into your paint. Then, a mineral deposit remover will be applied to complete the chemical decontamination process.

Now that we have seemingly removed all contaminants from your paint’s surface, we should be good to proceed with polishing and correcting your paint. Not quite yet; we will take one more step to ensure that when we begin the polishing process, we have nothing but bare paint to prevent further damage. The entire process up to this point has left your paint cleaner than when it was purchased at the dealership, but contaminants may still be etched deep into the surface. That’s when a manual clay bar treatment becomes necessary and safe to perform, finally leaving your paint as bare as possible. Your paint is officially free of any dirt, grime, and wax that has built up over time. This is the cleanest your paint can be, but it will also reveal any and all imperfections that have developed. Spoiler alert: there are a lot. Even sitting on the lot at the dealership, there is much that needs to be repaired to truly look like it has just rolled off the assembly line. Arkansas bipolar weather definitely does not do you any favors while it sat on the lot waiting for you to buy it.

Now we can determine the best course of action by examining the paint and performing tests with a polish, all in one or two-step correction is best for your paint (and your wallet). This is the final step—or two—needed to bring your paint's mirror-like finish back, improve gloss, and achieve a depth you haven’t witnessed before.

A polish will primarily enhance your paint’s gloss and depth while removing extremely minor defects—hardly any at all. This can still result in a dramatic improvement to your paint, but it may not meet all your expectations. An all-in-one polish is a medium-grade option that begins to cut into your paint, removing minor imperfections, though it won’t provide the same level of gloss as a fine polish. The third and most meticulous option is a full two-step correction. In this process, we remove most imperfections (70-90%) using an aggressive cutting compound, followed by a polish to eliminate any hazing caused by the compound.

It's important to understand that paint correction involves different levels of cutting into your paint to achieve the desired results. The deeper the scratch, the more we must shave into your paint to remove it. This is why paint correction also requires knowing your limits and bringing the paint as close to perfection as possible without leaving it vulnerable. One thing to note is that paint correction is an investment and a commitment. All the imperfections removed from your paint can easily return with incorrect washing (like drive-in car washes), improper maintenance, and inadequate protection. That’s why we only perform this service when paired with a ceramic coating. This will protect your paint's newly found gloss with a coating that is harder than your paint's clear coat, literally repel dirt with its super hydrophobic properties, and further increase the depth and shine of your paint.
